Real scenarios where knowing the total duration changes a decision.
Found a free programming course with 150 videos? Get the total duration first. A 45-hour course at 2x speed means about 22.5 hours of actual watching — which may or may not fit the month you have.
Building a workout or road-trip mix? The exact duration tells you whether you have enough music. A three-hour playlist covers a long drive without repeats.
Want to finish a documentary series this weekend? Check the length first. If it is twelve hours, that is six hours a day — or nine hours total at 1.5x.
Your lecturer shared review lectures and the exam is in five days. Get the total, divide by the study hours you actually have, and build a schedule you can keep.
Already watched the first 30 videos of a 100-video playlist? Calculate only videos 31–100 and see exactly how much time is left.
Students, educators, creators and anyone who wants to manage their YouTube viewing time deliberately.
Planning to complete a course on YouTube? Estimate the study time before you start, so you know how many hours you are committing to.
I use this to plan my weekly study schedule. A 20-hour course at 1.5x is about 13 hours of actual watching.
Assembling a playlist of educational videos? Publishing the accurate time estimate helps students plan their homework instead of guessing.
I always check playlist length before assigning video homework. Students appreciate knowing exactly how much time they need.
Analyse your own playlists, or compare them with others in your niche, to understand how much content you are asking viewers to commit to.
I check my tutorial playlist lengths to make sure they are not overwhelming for beginners.
Planning a binge session, a commute or a workout? See how long a series or music playlist will actually take.
Great for planning my commute playlist. I know exactly how many songs fit my drive.
YouTube does not show total playlist duration. This calculator solves that instantly.
You find a playlist for a course, a tutorial series or a music collection and you want one number: how long will this take? YouTube shows the number of videos, not the total duration, which makes it nearly impossible to plan a viewing schedule or judge whether a course fits the time you have.
This calculator answers that question directly. Paste the URL and you know exactly how many hours, minutes and seconds of content you are looking at — and how many videos in the list are no longer available.
Most people do not watch lectures at 1x any more. If you are getting through course videos before a deadline, the watch time at your actual speed is the number that matters.
A 10-hour playlist becomes 5 hours at 2x. On a 50-hour course that is 25 hours back, which is the difference between finishing and not.
Knowing the exact duration lets you:
The calculator reads the playlist through the official YouTube Data API, fetches the duration of every video in it, and adds them together. You get the total playlist duration in hours, minutes and seconds, plus the watch time at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x playback speed.
Paste the playlist URL into the field above and press "Calculate Duration". You will see the total playlist length and how long it takes to watch at 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x, along with the full video list.
Yes. Every result shows the watch time at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x. You can also type any speed between 0.25x and 4x in Advanced options, and the headline total switches to that speed.
Playlist URLs (youtube.com/playlist?list=...), individual video URLs (youtube.com/watch?v=... and youtu.be/...), Shorts and embed links, ad-hoc lists (youtube.com/watch_videos?video_ids=...), channel URLs and handles, and raw playlist or video IDs.
Multiple links are supported — paste one per line and each one gets its own result, plus a combined total.
Yes. Open Advanced options and choose "Specific range", then set the start and end video numbers — for example 31 to 100 to skip the first thirty videos. Only that portion is fetched and totalled.
Open Advanced options, choose "Remaining", and enter the video number you have watched through. The calculator starts from the next video and shows the playlist time left, with the same playback-speed options. Tick "Include current video" if you want to re-watch the one you stopped on.
Upcoming premieres, live streams that have not finished, private videos, deleted videos and region-blocked content do not expose a duration. Those items are listed but marked unavailable, and they are excluded from the total so the number stays honest.
The default ceiling is 1,000 videos per request, which keeps the response fast and the API quota reasonable. Longer playlists are calculated in segments — press "Load the next videos" to extend the total — or set a narrower range in Advanced options.
No. There is no account, no email and no payment. The calculator uses the site's shared YouTube API access for normal requests.
Yes. The Daily Watch Plan under each result lets you pick how much you can watch per day (15 minutes up to 4 hours, or a custom time) and at which speed. It instantly shows how many days you need to finish, which is what makes it useful for courses and revision schedules.
Yes. Press "Export Excel" after a calculation to download an .xlsx file containing a summary block and a row per video: number, title, channel, duration, duration in seconds, and a clickable YouTube link.
The playlist calculator is the homepage tool, but the site carries 40 more, grouped by job: monetization and earnings estimates, channel analysis, metadata viewers, engagement and comment tools, URL and link utilities, safety and access checks, and SEO and content creation. That last group now includes a username checker for @handles, a head-to-head video comparison and a trending video ideas finder. Every one of them is free and needs no account.
Yes. Press "View all videos" to expand the list. Each row shows the thumbnail, the title (which opens the video on YouTube), the channel name and the duration. Long lists load 50 rows at a time so the page stays responsive on a phone.
The tools answer the immediate question. These guides cover what to do when the answer is surprising.
